Campout is happening this summer at The Bridge, Michaelchurch Escley, over the four days of August 6–9th. Applications for 2026 are now live.
Together we are co-creating Campout again. This gathering has been evolving for several years as a new type of participatory event that aims to move away from the old audience / performer definitions.
Campout’s ethos revolves around the unique gifts each person brings to the four-day journey and what they take away from it. What each person takes will be different — we hope it will be a mix of inspiration, nourishment, focus and connections, new best friends, potential collaborations and maybe much more.
Everyone who comes contributes in some way. Together we co-create the event, and we are very happy that those who come are also willing and able to underwrite it — which has considerable infrastructure and venue rent costs — by buying a ticket. Without your generous contributions, there just wouldn’t be a Campout, so it’s received with gratitude.
As a different type of participatory event, a larger gathering might adopt a more conventional / commercial model — but for an intimate 200-capacity event, it takes everyone’s contributions to balance the books. If a small surplus is made, this goes towards Campfire’s ongoing costs throughout the year. No one in the Campfire team draws a wage. All crew work is done voluntarily, and this often involves weeks or months of work.
“It is vast, in its wonderment and inspiration.”
“A beautifully held space. Best festival ever, thank you.”
“An intentional community of kind, creative practice where you are free to explore, express and exchange gifts of the heart and soul. Bring what you have to share and expect to receive in unexpected ways.”
“A dream brought into reality.”
“The most beautiful little festival I have ever been to — a treasure trove of wonderful people, musicians, workshop leaders and inspiration.”
“If those attendees have gone out into the world with even half of the connectedness and empowerment I’ve been living with, then Campout 2023 was a mind-blowing, life-changing event.”
“A truly beautiful experience.”
“We are onto something.”
“It taught me how to dream big again and that made me feel more powerful than I ever did before.”
“There were moments when it felt like a remembering of what it is to be in a tribe, to be in a held space not just for an hour but as a way of life.”
“Song, dance, babies, love and grace, conscious conversation, delicious food, men and women in ceremony, laughter, hay bales, openness to change — this is what the future looks like!”
“If you can feel the imminence of necessary change but haven’t found your voice yet — look for it here.”
Those who wish to apply to be a crew volunteer (4-hour shifts across the days you attend as a guide) need to apply via the crew application form below.
We encourage everyone who buys a ticket to offer their gifts — a music set, a talk, a wellbeing session, a ceremony or something else we haven’t yet thought of. Those offering pre-programmed sessions or contributions will be invited to share a donation link if they have one.
Nobody gets paid other than the venue and essential contractors who provide infrastructure without which we couldn’t do the event. No free tickets or guest lists are available. As an intimate event, it’s essential that everyone contributes to covering our costs and builds the event together.
If accepted, we’ll get back to you once we’ve had time to read and process your offer. For crew, we’ll send a link to purchase your crew / performer guest ticket for £60 — this confirms you as part of the team for this year’s Campout.
It’s worth re-stating that everyone who is part of Campout is invited to attend as a fully active participant.
